DJ Gold Edges Lower on Possible Technical Correction -- Market Talk

2346 GMT - Gold edges lower on a possible technical correction in the early morning Asian session after front-month gold futures settled 1.3% higher on Friday. However, gold's downside may be limited ahead of incoming U.S. President Trump's inauguration due later today. Concerns are that the arrival of tariffs in the global economic landscape, along with potentially stubborn inflation and geopolitical uncertainties, will spur capital flows into gold as protection, TD Securities' commodity strategists say in a research report. Worries over tariffs and geopolitics had lifted the precious metal above $2,700/oz last week, the strategists note. Spot gold is 0.2% lower at $2,696.18/oz. ([e-mail])
