It is now almost 300, so your risk/award is no longer in your favor --- You risk of losing 30 points for a gain of 13 point

But if TSLA breaks 313, then 313-380(or even 400) is a new trading range. In this case, even if you buy at higher price, your risk/award is actually better.

This is why we need to a: recognize the trend and b: follow the trend.
