Syria welcomes controls on weapons

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Syria's foreign minister on Monday said he welcomes a Russian proposal to put the Middle Eastern nation's chemical weapons under international control. Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem's comments came in Moscow, CNN and others reported. Russia earlier Monday urged Syria to hand over its chemical weapons, which the U.S. accuses Syria of using in an attack against its own people in August.
