I will try:

1). SEMI got a bad rap.. the pre-earning annocement was not good.. xlnx, lemax..

2). Delphi's bankrupcy.. which could lead to GM's bankruptcy, which could lead to troubles for some hedge funds, which could lead to Banks... a vicious chain reaction.

3). Katrina and Rita finally showed up. and the bad september postponed to October.

4). preholiday's shake up.. otherwise, how can you have a holiday's rally
