Most people made money in 2003. How could he lose money if he just hold it last year ? He could have lost 20k since market is going down in 2004. I have learned my lessons after I lost more than 20K. You really can not tell when the trend will change. He should do the paper trading before he learned how. He should do ASSETS ALLOCATION through his investment company. So you can make 10% each year, no matter market is up or down. You should forgive him since he can not control the market. Money is not everything. You must have attached to him emotionally if you knew him for 14 yrs, especially you have two kids. Life will be difficult without parents, So do not break your family because of money. Calm down and be happy.
