there are 18 contacts in total as reported.
1) relatives lived with or visited him;
10 family remembers are identified to have been exposed to the patient.
2) neighbors at the apartment complex
no physical contact, no exposure, then no transmission
3) driver/passengers exposed to him when he was on route to/from hospital,
no physical contact, no exposure, then no transmission
4) People in the ER waiting room when he was there vomiting
no physical contact of the vomit,no exposure,no transmission
5) those who took care of him in the ambulance
EMS crews have routine practice on infection control. they are NOT identified as contacts of the patient.
6) People who got transported by the same ambulance
unless the vomit, blood,diarrhea were not properly removed and surface was not sanitized.
7) The classmates of the school children who had close contact with him after he was sick
The list can go longer than this....
again, it is not transmitted by air, patient couldn't give the virus to students by sitting beside them. that is why the list of contacts is shorter than you think.
it is not airborne disease, only transmitted by physical contact
