-You can do it by yourself in advance up to 120 days before the old card expires.

2）在现有EAD 卡到期， 而仍然没有收到新卡的批准， 现有工作就必须停止？-Yes.

有无可补救方法？-Technically, no. But practically, you may ask the employer to hold your salary until your get the new card if the employer agree to do (it is illegal, but possibly USCIS should not find it).
