question about changing from EB-3 to EB2简介

I have concurrently filed I-140 & I-485 and I found out today that there might be a promotion chance for me so that I can be in EB-2 instead of EB-3. ( Doing similar work with different job title) Does it mean that I have to return to the beginning of the whole process once I get promoted? Will that change my PD? Many Thanks!
