If you have time and money, you should apply in both routes as an insurance. According to immigration law, applications of different routes for the same visa status don't conflict and affect each other. Even one application is turned down first, it won't hurt the chance of the other application. However, you cannot apply for non-immigration status and I-140 at the sametime.
