necessary to file two I485 (NIW and EB1a) now?

Two I140 filed in Feb 2007. NIW I485 filed in July. Is it really necessary to file I485 for EB1A also? Suppose my EB1A I140 gets approved, can I link EB1A to my NIW I485? Thank you for your help!
