Renew EAD while I-485 pending

My I-140 (EB1-a) was approved April 2005 and I-485 is still pending. My EAD will expire soon. I want to renew my EAD. Could anybody tell me how I can renew it? Can I step into the local CIS office and request the renewal? Do I need to make an appointment with somebody? Will I need to pay for it?
