EAD Questions-Please help!

My old EAD (based on I-485 pending) is already expired for 10months now (I was using H1-B visa, but just got layoff). I have the following questions:
(1) Can I submitted new application for EAD?
(2) Is so, the new application is check the box - New or renew on I-765 form?
(3) Would it be a problem for the new EAD application since my EAD did not get renewed before expiration?
(3) What is difference between EAD extension and renew?
(4) Is it true that EAD extension can be done in local office?

Any help is very much appreciated.
