I saw an answer in "ask questions" in lawyer Fan's web about using EAD. It seems that any one can use EAD as long as he(she) maintains a nonimmigration status at same time. If he(she) did so, then even if his(her) I485 get denied, he(she) still has nonimmigration status. You can consult him. All answers here include mine are not professional answers
