Help please, USPS lost my EAD application

A week ago, I mailed EAD application at Post Office by Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation.
Normally Priority Mail is delivered in 3 days.
It has been a week; but the status is still 'Acceptance', which is the original status and it means my item was accepted in local post office.
I asked the post office but they don't know where the mail is.
I need the EAD in 2 months. I have some questions.
1) If I apply the second application right now and if both are delivered, can I cancel one of them?
2) Can I apply a temporary EAD by showing them the Post Office Delivery Confirmation Receipt?
3) Is there any other better way to handle this?
