My situation is: 485 pending, am working using EAD. I am going on vacation to China for 1.5 month early June. EAD will expire in October.

Can my lawyer file EAD renewal while I am in China?
-No. You need to be physically present in U.S. when you file the EAD application because you are not able to answer the questions such as Status of last entry in US, Current Status in US, Place of last entry in US on the Form I-765. But you can leave U.S. during the EAD pending. So, you may file the application before you leave if your EAD will expires within 120 days at that time.
