help for L2 apply EAD, thanks in advance

I'm canadian citizen holding L2 visa, and plan to apply GC after 6 months,
is it necesssary to apply EAD now or just apply TN if I find a new job, so what is the diffrence between my EAD and I-485 based EAD?
