"我拿到了枫叶卡". Do you mean you've received Canadian permanent resident card? If so, you are entitled to work. "工卡"? Are you referring to Social Insurance Number(SIN)? You should receive it within a few weeks after you apply for it. You can make arrangement with your employer so you start to work right away but only get first payment after you receive SIN. Without SIN, I doubt your employer can do the paperwork for tax deduction, EI, etc.
