EAD expired, renewal RD >90 days, can the applicant work under 2

My EAD expired today. My employer won't allow unpaid leave on absent, but allow me to continue to work. I am hesitating whether to take the risk because my I-485 has been transferred to NBC, which means my case requires an interview.

My understanding of Pjiang's post is that the unauthorized employment won't cause I-485 denial as long as it does not exceed 180 days. If that is the case, it seems that it should be OK if I continue to work.

I am the beneficial, my spouse is the greencard applicant.

Any input is appreciated. I am desperate.
