what is your I-140 status? LC/PERM based?
If I-140 approved, useing EAD should be fine.
If I-140 is pending and receiving RFE, do you think the previous sponsor will help? if no, your I-485/EAD will be cancelled when I-140 is denied which leaves you to be out-of-status.
