EAD and H1B can coexist!!

I often saw message in this forum that once EAD is used, the H1 visa goes invalid. I specifically went to infopass to ask this question, the answer was "yes, one can have EAD and H1 at the same time: i.e. one can have one job using H1 and another job using EAD, the use of EAD does not nullify H1 as long as it is not expired". What would you think of the answer from the IO? is it reliable?
