I-485 vs H1-b vs EAD

Prof. PJiang: I have a good question for you: The company sponsored lawyer is about to submit employment base I-485 for us. My wife is in OPT status(expire next May)working for a company now, can she apply H1-b cap next year during our I-140 & I-485 pending period? or Is it Okay I stay in H1-b(my H1-b is just the 2nd year) and she use EAD? My lawyer did not give me any response for that I asked yesterday. Thanks many ahead.
