Question on EAD Card Renewal

Hi,

My friend is on I-485 pending. Her EAD card will expired by the end of this month. She has applied for the EAD card renewal and got the receipt. My questions are:

1. Can she continue to work legally after this month if she does not receive the renewed card?

2. If Question 1 is no, can she go to the local USCIS office to get a interim EDA?
