New procedure for EAD renew?

I just tried to renew my EAD, the local immigration office told me that I had to send all material to Chicago, and I did so. One week later, I got the receipt, stated that I need to do the fingerprint first (I did one time last december already), then the case can be further processed. I received the fingerprint appointment from USCIS last weekend. Does anyone has the same or similiar situation as me?
