485 pending. H1B-EAD, How about H4?

I filed both my wife's and my 485 in July, 2005. I140 was approved and 485 is pending.
To my understanding, if I use EAD to work, my wife's H4 will be lost. Is it correct?
How to keep my wife legally here? Thanks
