I485 pending status. In plain words, he was worrying about if using EAD to work will affect the H4 status. And the answer to that is, yes. Once I485 gets denied, the dependant of H1 will lose the AOS status. So she has to leave the States ASAP. But she will be able to come back holding a new H4 visa and return as an H4 holder. So the H1 guy should be really careful at keeping his H1 status valid.
