Interim EAD

I am planning to renew my current EAD 90 days before its expiration. If I receive the notice from INS asking for additional evidence during this 90 days period, am I still eligible for applying for interim EAD card right after 90 days of receipt date of my original application? Or INS will re-counter the 90 days after the notice date for additional evidence?

Anyone with similar experience? Thanks.
