May I use EAD?

I applied I140/I485 currently, and my I140 have approved already. I use the H1-b visa work for an university. Right now, some company want to my do consultant for them. My question is: May I use EAD work for this company by my spare time? and also use the HIB for university? 2) Is here any portential risk that will effect my I485 application?
