the private companies don't have to deliver the quarterly expect

to Wall Street, thus they can concentrate on the new product development or new business venture, then eventually they will go public again. Specifcally, Dell are switching to non-PC business.  And I wouldn't be surprised that they would remove Dell (not Michael Dell) from the new company name.
