why ebay, why not using greglist or some free listing?

I never used ebay myself for buying or selling, but I see a lot of people using ebay for selling and complaining about be raped :(. Why don't you use free listing like the greglist for example? I bought stuff on greglist, I think lot's of people buy from there.
