In 2012, China physical GDP per capita was about 52% of the US! If China and US keep growing at the respective rate (7.5% vs. 2.5%), China will catch up only in 7 years. Here, I do not account the RMB appreciation and the factor of China growth rate higher than 7.5% as well as the US growth rate lower than 2.5% in the next 7 years. That is to say in 2021, China will be the largest economy even based on the per capita basis, i.e. that China will be 4.2 times bigger than the States in terms of economic scale. Very exciting indeed!
