The iconic thirteen-basin cascading fountain at Meridian Hill Park (Malcolm X Park) was shut down in 2019.
The National Park Service (NPS) originally turned off the water for repairs to the lower plaza. However, the shutdown was extended significantly after crews discovered the fountain required much more extensive restoration work.
