Courts generally do NOT block a vote before it happens

Courts avoid stopping a referendum before voters weigh in, because:

  • Blocking a vote is considered extreme.

  • Courts prefer to rule after the process is complete.

  • They want a full record of what happened.

So even if someone challenged the timing earlier, the court would likely still let the vote proceed and decide later.
