Explosion reported near tanker off of UAE’s Sharjah

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency says it has received a report of an explosion near a bulk carrier some 15 nautical miles north of Sharjah in the UAE.

The blast occurred “from an unknown projectile in close proximity to the vessel,” it said. “All crew are reported safe.”
