Documents released by the Senate Judiciary Committee in late 2025 indicated that the Department of Justice (DOJ) under the Biden administration, specifically as part of Special Counsel Jack Smith's "Operation Arctic Frost" investigation into 2020 election interference, targeted over 160 high-profile Republicans.
Based on reports regarding these documents:
- 197 subpoenas were sent to 34 people and 163 businesses or organizations.
- The investigation involved information requests regarding more than 400 individuals and entities.
- The probe specifically targeted 92 Republican organizations and individuals.
- Some of the individuals mentioned in the documents as under potential investigation included White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, Trade Advisor Peter Navarro, U.S. Pardon Attorney Ed Martin, Steve Bannon, Scott Perry, Rudolph Giuliani, Jeffrey Clark, John Eastman, and Mark Meadows.
The documents also showed that the investigation targeted the personal cell phone data of eight Republican senators and at least one member of the House of Representatives.
