The phrase 

"One of ours. All of yours." was displayed on a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) podium during a press conference, not a Department of Justice (DOJ) desk. 

The slogan appeared on the podium behind DHS Secretary Kristi Noem in January 2026, following an incident where an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis. The phrase generated significant controversy because it is associated with: 

• Fascist Ideology: The phrase is considered a rallying cry for collective punishment, a practice used by fascist regimes in the 1930s and during World War II by the Nazis, where entire groups were punished for the actions of an individual.
• Controversial Meaning: It implies that an attack on a single federal officer ("One of ours") will result in aggressive, wide-reaching retaliation against the community ("All of yours").
• International Law: Collective punishment is forbidden under Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention
