Russian Saboteurs Infiltrate From Transnistria

Kodyma — The Russian Federation is sending saboteurs and raiders from Transnistria into Ukraine. These are not impromptu actions, as many were seen before and during the war, but rather a coordinated incursion from Moscow aimed at extending the war into the Odesa Oblast’ by land. Dozens of small groups of these ДРГs have already entered cities like the one I am writing from, where I have collected testimonies from distressed civilians who have long imposed a stricter curfew on themselves than the one already in place.
Reports are increasingly frequent along the border between Ukraine and the ’Republic of Pridnestrovie’, which proclaimed itself independent from Moldova in 1990 but is not recognized by any UN member state.
Only two other territorial entities resulting from the destabilization wrought by the Russian Federation in Georgia actually recognize its existence: Abkhazia and South Ossetia, territories occupied by Russia and unilaterally declared ‘autonomous republics’ by armed groups who recognize them as an integral part of the Russian Federation.
This is happening for several reasons: first, Moscow’s immediate goal is to divert Ukrainian resources to a side opposite Pokrovsk and, more generally, Donbas; furthermore, it should not be forgotten that Russia’s plans for invading Ukraine involve cutting it off from all access to the sea by connecting the territories currently occupied by Russia to that strip of Moldova (in a briefing held shortly after, on February 24, 2022, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko clearly indicated this on a map); third, according to various rumors, Moldova is preparing to liberate that strip of its territory from Russian presence in anticipation of its accession to the EU.
Reinforcing this latter hypothesis is Dmitri Soin, an intelligence veteran and former member of the so-called ‘Pridnestrovie parliament’. According to him, Chisinau decided to urgently repair the bridges over the Dniester (seven are currently being renovated) to facilitate the Moldovan military’s movement into Transnistria and Gagauzia, following suggestions from unspecified Ukrainian and British advisors. The infiltration of Russian armed groups into Ukrainian Bessarabia has been an ongoing issue for at least 12 years, mirroring Russia’s actions in Donbas and Crimea.
Today, however, there is evidence that Moscow is strengthening its military presence in that area by reactivating Soviet-era weaponry, starting drone production and training centers for their operators, and deploying its special services agents there.
Cobasna, located just 130 kilometers from Chisinau, is home to the largest Soviet-era weapons depot in Eastern Europe. Twenty thousand tons of various types of explosives, if detonated together, would have the same effect as an atomic bomb like the one dropped on Hiroshima. They are primarily ammunition and artillery shells. Dated, but consistent with what the Russian Federation currently uses in Ukraine.
The presence of ДРГs on such a large scale proves that Vladimir Putin still plans to subjugate other large portions of Ukraine to create what he insists on calling «Novorossiya»: that is, those «historic territories» that, he claims, must return to Moscow’s rule.
If anyone in Washington still believes in the story of Russian-speaking Ukrainians being 'liberated’ and in the political recognition of the «territorial realities» resulting from a colonial war, they are invited to take a look around here.
As long as the russkij mir does not try to swallow these lands too, turning them into wastelands and gray zones, it will be possible to ask the Ukrainians living there whether they feel Russian or not.
