Strange things happened today over the Yasny range near Orenburg.
A purple smoke rose there, presumably after a rocket explosion. There is a suggestion that the launch encountered problems and the rocket exploded in the air.
Local authorities report that there is no threat to the population, and no evacuation is planned. Yasny hosts a cosmodrome and a missile forces base - one of the few points in the Russian Federation from which long-range missile launches are carried out, including those armed with nuclear warheads.
