In 2025, the U.S. has sent various weapons to Ukraine, including a recent $105 million approval for
Patriot air defense system sustainment. This follows a period of uncertainty in July 2025 when the Trump administration paused and then resumed some shipments. A new delivery mechanism was also announced where NATO members would send their own weapons to Ukraine and purchase replacements from the U.S..
Recent U.S. military aid and developments
  • Patriot Air Defense: The U.S. is providing
    $105$ 105
    $105
million for the sustainment of Ukraine's Patriot air defense systems, a determination approved in November 2025.
  • July 2025 shipments: After a brief pause and resumption of shipments, President Trump announced a new assistance plan in July 2025. The U.S. military conducted a capability review, and some aid, including Patriot missiles and precision-guided weapons, was temporarily suspended before being resumed.
  • NATO-funded aid: The new policy involves NATO allies providing weapons to Ukraine, with the U.S. replacing those assets. European countries like the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden have already agreed to purchase U.S.-made weapons for Ukraine through this mechanism.
  • Future of U.S. support: While some aid has been committed, the U.S. has also signaled it will not be footing the bill for all new assistance. Some reports suggest a new peace plan for Ukraine could involve Kyiv ceding territory and some weaponry in a negotiated settlement
