After Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis was disqualified from the case, the Georgia Prosecuting Attorneys' Council (PAC) was tasked with finding a replacement to lead the sprawling RICO case against Trump and more than a dozen co-defendants.
On Friday, the organization's executive director Pete Skandalakis announced he had appointed himself to the job.
The decision, he noted in a statement to press, reflected his "inability to secure another conflict prosecutor to assume responsibility for this case.
