Korosten’ — “Peace” is the furthest thing from reality that one can find when describing what Ukraine is forced to endure because of the Russian Federation, yet it is also the most challenging to see on the horizon.
Russian aircraft have again attacked Ukraine’s civilian sector, focusing intensely on the energy sector with over 450 drones and 32 other missiles of various types, resulting in dozens of innocent victims. The population of Kyiv on the left bank of the Dnipro River has been left without electricity, and most transportation in the capital has been heavily disrupted. Flames engulfed several apartments in a 17-story building, trapping a dozen people. A minimarket in Brovary also caught fire, and water supplies were cut off in several areas. In Zaporizhia, a 7-year-old child died after yet another Russian raid aimed at devastating its civilian infrastructure, and the crossing over the Dnipro hydroelectric dam has been closed. Several explosions were reported in Dnipropetrovsk, especially in Kamianka and the Kryvyi Rih district. In Cherkasy, Russians intentionally targeted a building in Kaniv, injuring other civilians, while in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Poltava, they deliberately opened fire on dozens of homes and urban structures. As this article is being written, residents in many of those regions have been advised to temporarily limit their use of gas.
Russians targeted again civilian infrastructures in Ukraine
«A cynical and calculated attack» — as President Zelensky dryly remarked, which also had repercussions in the Kirovohrad and Kherson regions, spanning half of Ukraine. It was a carefully planned assault that aligns with the logic of terror Moscow has so often used, to the point that it has gone largely unnoticed in the media. Aside from our daily dispatch from the front, the only article about the Ukrainian front in this war against the West appeared in a single-issue Italian press review on the Israeli question. It addressed an old topic that has been dormant for months: malfunctioning munitions made in Ukraine and the refrain that Ukraine is «a failed country, held afloat only by injections of European weapons and funds.»
This was highlighted not by one of the usual Russian propaganda megaphones, but by the weekly supplement of one of Italy’s most widely read newspapers.

The almost total absence of the Italian press from the Ukrainian front was made clear again a few hours ago, when yet another Russian agency reported on the alleged damage to the “Togliatti-Odesa” ammonia pipeline by Ukraine. This is pure fake news, aimed with the same precision as the strikes just described to accuse Ukraine of environmental crimes and crimes against civilians. To understand that this was garbage deliberately introduced into the Western information space, those who published it in the West media only needed to be here: first of all, the linear section of the stretch in question, between Rusnyj Yar and Yablunivka, is located in the territories of the Illinivka community that the Russians razed and then occupied, where no civilians are now living; not least, ammonia transport along that stretch has been interrupted for at least 11 years. As confirmed by the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, the white smoke in the Russian Ministry of Defense video might indicate a leak of ammonia residue that has remained pressurized since 2014. Aside from the unpleasant smell detected in Druzhkivka, there is no threat to anyone’s life. Still, even that misinformation has become ‘news,’ while no one has reported on the actual Ukrainian bombing of one of the largest gas processing facilities in Russia: the Korobkovsky pipeline, specifically the LVD Efimovka linear control and production station in the Volgograd region.
We’re discussing a plant with a production capacity of 450 million cubic meters of natural gas and associated gases, along with 186,000 tons of light hydrocarbon fractions annually. Gas and derivatives totaling 50 million tons per year are not even mentioned in any news report, yet a gas leak in a pipeline that has been closed for over a decade and is in a conflict zone is described as an environmental disaster capable of harming not only those who started firing there but also those who deliberately caused a true ecocide.
