Undocumented immigrants can also access limited primary care and prescription drugs through Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and free or charitable clinics, regardless of their immigration status or ability to pay. Federal law also ensures access to emergency medical treatment in hospital emergency rooms under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), regardless of immigration status.
