K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa

• Marriage Requirement: 

  The marriage must take place within 90 days of the foreign-citizen's arrival in the U.S. 

   

• Next Steps: 

  After marrying the U.S. citizen, the foreign-citizen must apply to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to adjust their status to a lawful permanent resident. 

   

• Children: 

  Eligible children of the K-1 visa applicant receive K-2 visas. 

• Purpose: 

  To allow a foreign-citizen fiancé(e) to travel to the U.S. and marry their U.S. citizen sponsor.
