美国财政部长和中国副总理预计下周在马德里见面

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent plans to meet Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and other top officials in Madrid next week to discuss trade and the economy, Reuters reported on Thursday.

The meeting will also cover Chinese-owned social media app TikTok, which is in the process of selling its American operations, Reuters reported, citing a statement from the Treasury. 

Bessent will also meet other government counterparts in Madrid and will later join President Donald Trump for his official state visit with Britain’s King Charles, Reuters reported. 

The Bessent-He meeting comes after the U.S. and China reached a trade truce entailing relatively lower trade tariffs against each other. Both countries agreed in August to extend this truce until early-November.

But Washington and Beijing are still seeking to reach a more concrete agreement with better terms of trade.
