As a life long DC resident, all I can say is, this is DC. Its been like this since the 80's and guns were banned back then. Criminals dont care about strict gun laws, they'll buy a glock or AK-47 out of the trunk of a car and keep it pushing. And now that MPD has been caught lying about crime statistics, the city is in a real bad spot right now. Law abiding DC residents need to buy, register, and train with a firearm for their own protection. You are your own first responder in a city like this. Politicians won't save you. All they'll say is "our hearts and prayers go to the victims family" and move on to the next event.
