南加州的圣塔安娜风（Santa Ana Wind) 季节是火灾风险高的季节，这个季节通常是9月到来年3月，其中 10月到一月 （冬季）风险最高。 （The Santa Ana wind season in California typically occurs in the fall and early winter, starting in September or October and lasting through March, with the strongest and most frequent winds often happening between October and January.）
这个季节基本上南加州每年都有大火 （下面列的都是烧了几千到上万英亩的大火）：
2020年： Bobcat Fire， El Dorado Fire， Valley Fire （还有2场大火是7， 8月的，不算在圣塔安娜风季节内）
2021年： Alisal Fire， Windy Fire （Caldor Fire 是8月开始的，不算在圣塔安娜风季节内）
2022年：Fairview Fire:， Radford Fire （5月还有一场大火，但是不在圣塔安娜风季节范围内）；
2023年 11月 - 2024年4月， 超乎寻常的雨多，所以这个风季没有大火。正是因为那时候下这么多雨，造成山上植物疯长，为现在的大火创造了条件 。
