No.

You fail to grasp a key point.

Most countries, like Canada, for example, have only one thing on the ballot.

That’s a sample ballot. On it, there is only ONE position being voted on, that being the member of Parliament for that district, which we call ridings.

Now, here’s a sample US ballot:

There’s a TON of different positions being voted on on a US ballot.

In a Presidential election year, just federally, one is voting for a President, for one’s member of the House, and 2/3rds of the time, a US Senate position.

Plus, a batch of state and local positions, as well.

ALL of those things have to be tallied up.

And, many states in the US do not allow mail in and early cast ballots to be counted until the polls close on Election day.
