The People's Liberation Army Navy (PLA Navy), also known as the Chinese Navy, has a total strength of 350,000 personnel, including 70,000 marines and 30,000 naval aviation personnel. The PLA Navy is made up of five sub-branches: the Surface Force, the Submarine Force, the Coastal Defense Force, the Marine Corps, and the Naval Air Force. 
 
 
China's navy is the world's largest and is expected to grow further. The Pentagon expects the number of ships and submarines to increase to 395 by 2025 and 435 by 2030.
