The USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) uses about 135 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity to launch an aircraft in 2–3 seconds. The ship's electrical system isn't strong enough to power a multi-ton aircraft into the air, so it stores electrical energy for each launch.
