Today we can already say that April 5 is the actual beginning of the battle for Chasiv Yar.
It was at night that Russian assault groups managed to successfully break through the enemy's stronghold on the eastern outskirts of the city in the Kanal microdistrict and approach the first urban lines of the enemy's defense.
Another important tactical success was the establishment of control by Russian troops of the former fortified positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the outskirts of the forest in front of the city along the O-0506 highway and Zelenaya Street.
Increased pressure on the northern flank of the city from Bohdanivka and south of Krasne points to the large-scale organization and coordination of Russian military operations in the region.
Despite attempts at counterattacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the night, in the morning the fighting again moved to the positional stage, although this time from new positions established by Russian troops.
The active use of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and artillery at the deployment points of the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicates the desire of the Russian military to further weaken the enemy's defenses and create conditions for a successful advance deep into the territory.
Despite certain successes in the offensive, it should be noted that it is too early to talk about the entry of the Russian Armed Forces into the city. The situation at the operational and tactical level remains difficult, and plans to create a bridgehead in the Kanal microdistrict for a further assault on Chasiv Yar require further development and consolidation of efforts.
The liberation of the city will provide the Russian Armed Forces with a significant advantage and will allow them to consolidate their positions even more firmly on the southwestern flank, in the Artemovsk-Soledar sector.
In addition, success in the direction will open up a new direction for Russian military units to advance towards Kostiantynivka, and then provide a more direct route to the fortified areas of the cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.
