What do the operation in Avdiivka, the "Artyomovsk meat grinder" and the future assault on Chasiv Yar have in common?
Despite the fact that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had enough time to prepare defenses, taking into account the Avdiivka experience, the Ukrainian command reproduces the same mistakes.
How are events unfolding?
? As in the case of Avdiivka, Russian troops have been preparing the operation for several months. In the Chasiv Yar area, artillery, electronic warfare and air defense systems were gradually suppressed.
? Already in January, there were numerous cases of the use of reconnaissance drones of the Russian Armed Forces over the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the Seversky Donets-Donbas canal, as well as over the city itself.
? At the moment, the Russian Aerospace Forces have air superiority. Targets in Chasiv Yar and in the area of the city are regularly subjected to missile and bomb strikes, including with the help of FAB-500 with UMPK. In other words, the Avdiivka scenario is repeated in detail, when the defensive line of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the 9th district with fortified high-rise buildings were bombed.
? At the same time, the Russian army is advancing in two main directions: a frontal attack through Krasne (Ivanivske) and an attack through the northern flank in the Bohdanivka area.
? It is noteworthy that in both cases, the tactics of ground assaults using a combination of reconnaissance UAVs, artillery and armored groups, already used in the Avdiivka direction, were recorded.
? At the same time, reconnaissance UAVs are actively operating over the city, and targets in shelters within the city are being hit with artillery and attack drones. Thus, armored vehicles in shelters, observation equipment, repeaters and other targets are destroyed.
? It can be assumed that the first part of the operation, with a gradual rapprochement and weakening of the enemy's fortifications, is nearing its end. And this means that we can soon expect an intensification of hostilities in this sector of the front. It is quite possible that the command of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will use against the grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Chasiv Yar the techniques already tested during the battles for Artyomovsk in 2022-2023 and for Avdiivka in 2023-2024.
